March 8, Richmond, VA. 1:00 PM. The Library of Virginia, 800 East Broad Street, Richmond. The 2008 Alan M. and Nathalie P. Voorhees Lecture on the History of Cartography. The event consists of two presentations, by Dr. Matthew H. Edney, Director of the History of Cartography Project at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Osher Professor of Geography in the History of Cartography. John Mitchell, His Map, and the Eighteenth Century Culture of Geography, and ‘The History of Cartography’: The Challenges posed by the History of Maps in the Modern World (after 1650).
