February 27, Denver. The Rocky Mountain Map Society , 6:30 pm, Denver Public Library. 13th Ave and Broadway, 5th floor, Gates Room. Society member Carl Barna will give a PowerPoint presentation all about cartophilately -- collecting maps on stamps. His own collection forms the basis of this unique presentation.
March 1, London. At the Warburg Institute, University of London, Woburn Square, London. 5:00 p.m. Maps and Society, Sixteenth Series. Naming the English Channel: What Maps Tell Us About Geopolitics Through the Ages, a presentation by Dr Renaud Morieux, Department of History, University of Lille.
March 1, New York. 6:30 p.m. At The Scandinavia House, Park Ave. between 37th and 38th Streets. Author William Ginsberg will discuss his new book, Printed Maps of Scandinavia and the Arctic, 1428-1601. This book is the first scholarly cartobibliography of that region. Mr. Ginsberg's presentation will include images of some of the rarest and most remarkable maps ever created.
March 5, 6, & 8, Cambridge, England. Conversations with maps: world views in early modern Europe. The Sandars Lecture Series, 2007. A three-part lecture series, at Cambridge University Library, by Sarah Tyacke, Distinguished Senior Research Fellow at the School of Advanced Study, University of London. The lectures will begin at 5:00 p.m. each evening.
March 8, Toronto. Meeting of the Upper Canada Map Society from 5-6:30 p.m. at the University of Toronto's Robarts Library, 130 St. George Street, Room 4049. Celebrating the 500th anniversary of the publication of Martin Waldseemuller's World Map of 1507. Ed Rutherford, lecturer in the History of Cartography at the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Studies, will discuss the map, which is the most important in the cartographical history of the New World.
March 10, London. Imperial College, South Kensington. Maja Kominko will discuss Byzantine Maps. At the Society for the History of Medieval Technology and Science.
March 10, Richmond, Virginia. The Nathalie P. and Alan M. Voorhees Lecture on the History of Cartography. 1:00 p.m. at The Library of Virginia, 800 E Broad Street, Richmond.

Dr. Evelyn Edson, Professor Emerita of History at Virginia's Piedmont Community College, will present Putting America on the Map: The Achievement of Medieval Mapmakers. Dr. Edson's lecture presents several 15th century mapmakers, including Martin Behaim, Francesco Rosselli, Henry Martellus Germanus, and the anonymous creator of the "Columbus map."
