June 8-9, London. Annual meeting of the International Map Collectors’ Society. The annual dinner is at 7:30 pm on the Friday, at the East India Club, 16 St. James Square. The meeting and lectures take place on Saturday at 10:30 am. For more information, please contact the IMCoS Secretary.
June 9, Beacon, New York. The New York Map Society will be visiting the Beacon Institute to view a map, created by cartographer Connie Brown, and an exhibit, about the Hudson River Watershed. See the map society meeting page for full details.
June 12, Denver. Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Map Society, 6:30 PM, at home of Richard and Marcia Baum. The meeting will focus on Richard Baum’s collection: Maps as Art, Geographical Oddities, and Geopolitical Landmarks. For more information, contact California Map Society is conducting a field trip to the Chabot Space and Science Center, 10000 Skyline Blvd., Oakland. Among other presentations, Nick Kanas, M.D. will discuss the Golden Age of Pictorial Celestial Cartography, 1600-1800, and Phil Simon will discuss puzzle maps from around the world, from ancient to modern.
