April 19, Washington D.C. Meeting of the Washington Map Society, 7:00 p.m., Geography and Map Division, B level, Library of Congress, Madison Building, 101 Independence Avenue. Dating Old Maps with the Print Clock, presented by Dr. Blair Hedges, professor of biology at Penn State. Dr. Blair has developed a way of estimating the dates of woodblock and copperplate prints. April 25, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Annual Arthur Holzheimer Lecture Series, Maps and America. American Geographical Society Library, 6: 00 pm. University of Wisconsin. 2311 East Hartford Ave., Milwaukee. Lecture on History of the U.S. Coast Survey, by Dr. John Cloud.

April 26, London. At the Warburg Institute, University of London, Woburn Square, London. 5:00 p.m. Maps and Society, Sixteenth Series. Hugh Prince, formerly of the Department of Geography, University College London, will present: Surveyor or Plagiarist? The Parks on John Warburton's Map of Hertfordshire (c. 1724).

April 28, Raleigh, North Carolina. 4:00 PM at Meredith College. The Men Behind The Maps, a lecture by Philip Burden, sponsored by the William P. Cummings Map Society and Gallery C. Lecture at 4 pm in Kresge Auditorium in the Cate Student Center at Meredith College. A reception follows at 5 pm in Gallery C, which is located on Wade Avenue in the Ridgewood Shopping Center. Mr. Burden is the well-known author of The Mapping of North America and The Mapping of North America II.

May 12, New York. 2:30 PM. New York Map Society Meeting. Is the Lenox Globe Older than the 1507 Waldseemüller Map? New York Public Library, 5th Avenue & 42nd Street. A discussion of the Lenox Globe, thought to be one of the oldest globes to show the New World, yet one which has received insufficient attention to date. Peter Dickson will lead the discussion.
