The American Historical Print Collectors Society

Last week, we mentioned the International Map Collector's Society, IMCOS, which welcomes new members interested in antique maps. For the collector of antique prints, an excellent society worth considering is The American Historical Print Collectors Society. The AHPCS is "a non-profit group that encourages the collection, preservation, study, and exhibition of original historical American prints produced from 1600 to 1900".

This is a very active society, with regular meetings, activities, and a membership committed to scholarship and authoring articles. The society's twice-yearly journal, IMPRINT, is an outstanding publication, containing in-depth, important research articles about historical prints.

The AHPCS website is full of useful information and links for the print collector. If you are an advanced collector, you probably know about the society. If you are a beginner, a visit to their website is highly recommended.
