| Unusual map of the state of Florida, from a little known atlas by H. C. Tunison, published around 1886. This hand-colored map, notable for its vivid pink coloration, shows early configuration of southern Florida counties, being dominated by just four counties: Dade, Monroe, Manatee, and Brevard. The map shows towns, villages, railroads, rivers, lakes, coastal features, and more. In a fascinating sidebar, the publisher included an inset of the jetty system in the mouth of the Mississippi River at New Orleans, complete with explanatory text. The sheet is printed on both sides. Very good condition. |
