The Brown-headed Finch, from John Cassin's Illustrations of the Birds of California, Texas, Oregon, British and Russian America. Small, vivid red flowers complement the bird in the foreground. Cassin's work, which at one point was intended to be published in co-operation with John James Audubon, is a notable achievement in its own right. Very good condition.
