| Colorful and detailed antique map of Prussia and Saxony from Colton's Atlas of the World, published in 1856. The Colton firm, one of America's foremost map and atlas publishers of the nineteenth century, published this atlas in its lavish two-volume format in 1855 and 1856 only. Maps from this edition are the most desirable of the Colton atlas maps. On the present map, surrounded by a decorative border, the Prussian provinces are individually hand-colored. It depicts cities, towns, villages, railroads, roads, battlefields, rivers, mountains, and so forth. There is a trace of browning in the wide margins, otherwise fine condition. Printed on thick paper, and blank on verso. Reference: Phillips, Geographical Atlases, numbers 816 & 6116. |
