| Very decorative antique map of Japanese islands from Fullarton's Royal Illustrated Atlas, published in London in 1862. This sought-after map of Japan and surrounding islands also contains an inset of Nagasaki, and a view of the port of Simoneseke at top. Two more vignettes of native inhabitants are located above the map. There is some slight chipping to the left edge of the sheet, and an unobtrusive binding crease, otherwise it is in fine condition. These sheets were published with the vignettes extending to the fore-edge of the sheet. Reference: Phillips, Geographical Atlases, number 838. |
