| An attractive map of Utah and Nevada, published in 1871 in Mitchell's New General Atlas. The map is copyright-dated 1870. The counties are individually hand-colored, although much of both states was unexplored, especially southern Nevada. Utah, of course, was still a territory at this time. Wagon roads and emigrant roads are marked, along with railroad lines, telegraph routes and the overland mail route. Also depicted are towns, rivers, lakes, mountains, and so forth. The locations of many Indian tribes are noted. A trace of marginal browning, and a tiny tear at bottom edge of sheet, overall very good condition. Reference: see, Phillips, Geographical Atlases, number 848. |
