The antique map of Connecticut is surrounded by French letterpress text, which discusses such important contemporary information as the state's government, commerce, climate, education, towns and villages, religion, key battles, names of governors, and so forth. The surrounding text makes the overall image area 17.8" x 23.8". The map itself shows counties, towns, villages, stage roads, mountains, rivers, lakes, and so on. The French edition of Carey & Lea, represented here, is generally the most highly regarded of the various editions from the 1820s, in terms of the quality of the paper and engraving.
