Carte De La Scandinavie Comprenant Les Royaumes De Suede, De Norwege, Et De Danemark
A large, well-detailed, copper-engraved antique map of Scandinavia published by the Lapie father-and-son firm in Paris in 1833. The map, dated 1830 on its face, appeared in the landmark Atlas Universel De Geographie. Depicts countries, cities, towns, mountains, rivers, lakes, coastal features, and so forth. With small insets of Iceland and the Faroe Islands. A small, original blindstamp, consisting of elegantly-scripted initials encircled by the title of the atlas, is found in a blank space at the bottom of the map. It is most likely the logo of the printer. All the maps in this atlas bear this stamp. Slight browning to the sheet edges, otherwise, the map is in very good condition, with huge margins, on heavy paper. Reference: Phillips, Geographical Atlases, number 765.
