A large, well-detailed, copper-engraved antique map of Greece published by the Lapie father-and-son firm in Paris in 1833. The map, dated 1832 on its face, appeared in the landmark
Atlas Universel De Geographie
. Depicts cities, towns, mountains, rivers, lakes, coastal features, the islands, and so forth. A small, original blindstamp, consisting of elegantly-scripted initials encircled by the title of the atlas, is found in a blank space at the bottom of the map. It is most likely the logo of the printer. All the maps in this atlas bear this stamp. Light dampstaining to the outer edges of the top corners of the sheet, well away from the image area. A trace of mostly marginal foxing. Otherwise, the map is in very good condition, with huge margins, on heavy paper. Reference: Phillips, Geographical Atlases, number 765.
