| One of the most attractive of all the antique maps of Martinique. A joint collaboration by French mapmaker Delisle, and his son-in-law Philippe Buache, published in 1732 in Paris. Wonderful detail both in placenames and topography, showing roads, hills, towns, plantations, and much more. Outline hand color, with additional finish color to topographical elements. A copperplate engraving, with wide margins. Three compass roses and a decorative cartouche. A small dampstain extends about 2" x 2" past the bottom margin, but in a completely empty area, and not very obtrusive. Overall condition very good. |
